Just an update for anyone checking here to see if they should or should not show up on Wednesday 5/13 for the Economic Development Subcommittee meeting on the 1,3 Suburban Road zoning change. The petition for upzoning the RS-7 zoned areas of this parcel to RG-5 has been withdrawn. That means it’s done, there won’t be a hearing on this item.

However great this may feel, it does not mean that Wood Partners is done. The project may return in another form and we need to be ready. I don’t want to speculate here, but remember, there are still nearly 9 acres of RG-5 zoned land already. Depending on the original motivation for the zoning change, this may be plenty for the developer to work with. We need to be prepared to fight plans submitted to the planning board. Zoning was never the main issue with the land. The issue with the land is the land, and that most definitely has not changed. All that has changed is our strategy.
